Like a mosaic, it is a set of pieces put together to form a pattern without leaving any empty spaces among them and overlapping.
I use the tiles as a colour unity in a digital image. Something like changing the squared shape of a pixel for other outlines, creating a portrait, landscape or image made of animal or flower shapes.
I am a mathematician, designer and visual arts communicator. My greatest passion is geometry and the way mathematics can communicate through it.
I came up with the idea of making tiling images out of a desire to “change” pixels for other shapes that were regular but not square. It may seem unbelievable but this longing started while doing cross-stitch embroidery... It may sound odd, but when you make crafts, you are doing geometry and thinking mathematically!!!
I have worked on this tiling image technique for over a decade. It is thoroughly developed and perfected. It is a unique graphic work, carefully carried out using a manual process and digital technology.
